A Bali Sojourn
1 - 7 November 2018
Designed for busy women who need a break
Time to focus on and invest in yourself
Perfect for the solo traveller
Everything is taken care of. Be guided and pampered over seven days
Andrea Wicking and Michelle Hanton will host and accompany an intimate group of women to Bali, for seven days of nurturing and pampering of the mind, soul and body.
During the week there is plenty of time to relax in your private villas; avail yourself of a one on one personal development workshop with Michelle; loads of opportunities to experience the culture of Bali; enjoy guided shopping tours; daily massages; and foodie adventures.
Are you in tip-top condition or do you feel stressed, under pressure and worn out?
If so, you are not alone. We know what that feels like!
Looking after yourself is essential.
If you're run down and worn out, you will struggle to cope and the cycle will never end.
This time in Bali is all about self-care, making time for yourself and setting personal priorities. In addition to this, you will learn new skills to empower yourself.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Thursday 1 November
We arrive in Bali just after midnight and will be met at the airport by Made Justin who will transport us to the villa in airconditioned comfort. Given that we have a late night, we have organised for a lazy next day at the villa to help everyone unwind and relax.
This includes a cooked breakfast by Wayan and plenty of personal time to relax and get to know the other ladies. With plenty of space around the villa you will be spoilt for choice, including a beautiful, cool swimming pool. The day will include a massage, a delicious catered lunch and plenty of cool drinks.
We will meet Susan, our bespoke tailor who will visit the villas to discuss what you would like to have made, take measurements and plan for fabric shopping the following morning. We have allowed time for each of you to two pieces to be made. Either bring an item of clothing you would like copied or even a photo and Susan will work her magic.
We finish the day with a sunset dinner at la Lucciola, one of Bali's best restaurants.
Friday 2 November
We start the day with breakfast prepared by Wayan and while we are out shopping our laundry is taken care of. Our morning will consist of a shopping tour in Canggu with lunch at the homewares mecca, Bungalow Living. In the afternoon for those who wish to go into Seminyak, Andrea will take you for a spot of shopping.
The option is there for you to stay at the villa to relax, soak in the pool, have a massage or book a one on one session with Michelle.
Dinner will be at Lantern, where we will delight in south east Asian and Peranakan delicacies.
Saturday 3 November
We start the day with a hearty breakfast prepared by Wayan followed by a shopping tour in upper Legian for those who love finding treasures in small boutiques. There is plenty to look at, even if you only want to window shop.
One gets hungry while shopping, so we will re-fuel at Bo & Bun and for those who wish to continue, we will make our way to Jalan Oberoi and saunter along looking at the many boutiques selling clothing, shoes, jewellery, home wares and gifts. Lots to look at and indulge yourself.
Also factored into the day is your daily massage at the villa, some personal relaxation time and the opportunity to have a one on one workshop with Michelle.
This evening we share a five-course degustation meal at Chandi where the menu consists of organically grown greens, spices, fruits and roots from local Bedugul farmers, including the best imported meats from New Zealand and Australia. Not forgetting the locally produced soy products - tempeh and tofu.
Chandi’s bar menu is renowned for its Bali inspired cocktails mixed with a variety of organic fruits, roots and beans as well as the organic Sumatra Mandailing espresso bar. Chandi caters for different diet lifestyles from paleo to pescatarian, vegetarian to vegan and includes gluten free meal options.
Sunday 4 November
Today we spend the day visiting the serene coolness of Ubud. We leave the villa early and enjoy a traditional breakfast along the way at a local warung. When we arrive in central Ubud we will take in the beauty of Puri Saren Agung and then view the beautiful weaving and cloth produced at Threads of Life.
A trip to Ubud would not be complete without a visit to Ibu Okra's for babi guling (roast pork) and it's just the best you will ever taste
After lunch we will meander through the central Ubud markets and remember, it's polite to haggle for anything you are interested in buying! It's loads of fun and Michelle and I will be with you to assist if needed. We will then walk along the shady path of Jalan Hanoman where there are plenty of boutiques, artefacts and antique shops, as well as lots of art.
We will then make the trip home and after a fairly full day, will spend the night in over cheese and wine. Plenty of time for massages, sharing our haggling stories, showing purchases and enjoying a cool dip in the pool.
Monday 5 November
Prior to leaving our villa for the morning, Wayan will prepare a delicious breakfast for us to enjoy. We will drive to Canggu to undertake a jewellery workshop where each of us will make a piece of jewellery to take home as a memento of our sojourn. Lunch will be at a rustic wooden shack known as Betelnut cafe where they serve healthy, nutritious and delicious food. A perfect fuel stop prior to returning to the villa.
The afternoon is all about relaxing, however you wish - in your room, having an afternoon nap beside the pool, enjoying a swim or massage, or partaking in a one on one session with Michelle.
Later in the evening we dine at Bambu, where you will enjoy the best selection of cuisine from many provinces in Indonesian. Not to mention the exquisite ambience of the restaurant as well as their attention to detail and service.
Tuesday 6 November
A relaxing start to the day with Wayan spoiling us yet again over breakfast. For those who still have the shopping buzz or are interested in buying something special for their home to remind them of the trip, we will spend the morning going to homeware shops.
Lunch is at the infamous Sea Circus cafe where the menu offers a variety of little and larger dishes from the garden, the sea and the land.
We return to the villa to while away the afternoon, much like the previous days. This afternoon, our tailor Susan will pop in for final fittings and adjustments to the bespoke clothing she has created.
The end of the day sees us going to Uluwatu Temple to marvel at the beauty of the land and sea we see before us. We will experience the unique kecak dance and eat Jimbaran Bay's BBQ seafood at tables set on the beach and watch the twinkling of the night stars along the coast. If you love planes, you will see how many land and take off at one of the busiest airports in south east Asia.
Wednesday 7 November
Our last day in Bali and Wayan prepares a sumptuous breakfast that will sustain us throughout the day.
We will spend the morning at the villa relaxing, packing and a enjoying a swim. We have a 9.00pm late check out for those flying overnight. For anyone flying out earlier, we will make sure you are at the airport in plenty of time.
We will experience Biku's famous high tea for lunch followed by an afternoon of manicures and pedicures at Spring - totally chilling out. For those of us flying out late, we can either dine in or out, a decision we will make on the day, depending on how we all feel.
